A HITECH rule requires growth charting for girls aged 2-to-18 and boys aged 2-to-20. The rule reads as follows:
The HITECH law on growth charts reads as follows:
§170.302(f) (3) Plot and display growth charts.Plot and electronically display, upon request, growth charts for patients 2-20 years old.
Eligible providers planning to seek HITECH EMR incentive funds will be required to demonstrate that they can produce growth charts.
Medicfusion EMR automatically produces growth charts for providers by harvesting the height and weight findings documented in a patient's vitals.
Assuming a provider has documented height and weight for the patient, staff can produce a chart illustrating the patient's growth.
Printed and electronic versions of the HITECH-required growth charts may be easily produced as needed and, of course, for the ever-important HITECH attestation for providers seeking federal incentive funds.
